Without a doubt, the internationally acclaimed bassist, singer and composer Avishai Cohen is one of the best bassists of his generation, captivating large live audiences, listeners and passionate fans worldwide.
With his trio, Cohen will offer numerous new compositions that are ready to be released by May 2022 as well as some of his fans favorite songs from the past. Cohen, who has always distinguished himself in the past as a great band leader and discoverer of new, young musicians, will once again present exceptional talents on their instruments alongside him with Elchin Shirinov on piano and the young drummer Roni Kaspi.
Shirinov from Azerbaijan can also be heard on Avishai's new orchestral album "Two Roses", released in April 2021. Roni Kaspi, born in Israel in July 2000, is currently studying at Berklee College of Music, USA. During the lockdown, she met Avishai Cohen, with whom she performed virtually on Facebook. This immediately developed into a strong musical connection, which led to Roni being invited to accompany Avishai on tour worldwide from September 2020.

Over the past two decades, bassist, singer, composer, Jazz visionary and innovator, Avishai Cohen, has earned his reputation as one of the greatest bass players of his generation. His original compositions and arrangements reflect an expansive musical universe and embrace a vital blend of traditions, cultures, languages and styles, from Hebrew, Ladino folk songs alongside pulsating original contemporary jazz.
Following on from the hugely successful release of ‘Almah’ (Warner/Parlophone, 2013), a unique project which combined Trio with a string quartet, Avishai in recent years has taken further steps into the future, with Trio and Full Orchestra. It is the culmination of his musical journey, bringing two worlds together – classical and jazz.
An Evening with Avishai Cohen features his dynamic core Trio of double bass, drums and piano, while the sophisticated, legitimate integration of symphony orchestra lends an added dimension to Cohen’s distinctive sound. Programmes include settings of Cohen’s own contemporary jazz and world music compositions, orchestrated traditional Hebrew - Ladino songs, and classical works, while the arrangements span set-ups for solo, trio and full orchestra.
The result is an exhilarating musical experience, intimate yet high impact.
“With a symphony orchestra around him, his flair for the dramatic finds its ideal aesthetic environment.”
